The grungy trio Castile is back with the first single off its forthcoming EP "Magenta." "Say Her" is heavy with the angst and isolation of the '90s. With that, Castile has banged out a memorable tune.
"The overall sound of the EP is derived from all of our favorite things about 90's alternative rock; loud guitars, big drums, the dynamics and lyrics that are open to interpretation," said singer/guitarist Shane Randell. "We wanted to do a modern take on that, but still make it our own."
The band definitely succeeds on "Say Her." It leads off with a notable lead guitar line that's joined by Randell's gritty synced vocal harmony, singing "...and I will, and I will, and I will change."
We cannot forget the rhythm section, though. Austin Nill (drums) and Adam Maynard (bass) keep the groove right and tight throughout. I found myself banging on my work desk, much to my co-workers' disdain.
You can catch this song and many more on Wednesday, November 22 at Skully's Music Diner for the Local Holiday Showcase put on by CD102.5. Doors open at 8:30 p.m. There is a $5 cover charge for those aged 18-20.
